Festival Finale

  • Penarth Pier Pavilion The Esplanade Penarth, CF64 3AU United Kingdom (map)

The festival finishes with a flourish this year with Enescu’s epic Octet for strings. This spectacular piece, written in his 19th year, has similar youthful energy to Mendelssohn’s famous Octet, but with a very different tonal language. It is dramatic, romantic and truly polyphonic with no one instrument stealing the show.

We are also delighted to present the festival’s own “Pier Music”, commissioned in 2019, but only performed here in Covid-restricted concerts in 2021.

Plus Faure’s Piano Quartet in C minor which is uplifting, beautiful and exciting.

Fokkens - Pier Music for violin and cello
Faure - Piano Quartet in C minor op. 15
Enescu - Octet op. 7

Tickets £21 and free for 8-25 year olds
